This pair of 1960s Hungarian mid-century modern armchairs has deep shell-shaped backrests that curve forward around round seat cushions. They are upholstered in a textured green fabric with brown and black striations and stand on splayed wooden legs joined by stretchers. The chairs are sold as a refurbishment project. Once restored, they would suit a living room, bedroom or reading corner.
Condition and Character **Sold for refurbishment, not safe to use in their current state.** On the chairs, the backrest has come away from the base. Nothing is broken, but the upholstery needs to be removed to reattach it, and the repair is straightforward to carry out during reupholstering. Until then, the chairs are not safe to sit on. The original fabric is torn where the backrest meets the seat base, exposing the frame underneath, and it shows wear and uneven colour from age. The wooden legs show light marks from use.
