This pair of 1930s bentwood armchairs is attributed to Jan Vaněk for UP Závody, in keeping with interwar Czechoslovak functionalist design. Each chair has looped bentwood side frames, flat curved armrests and a woven fabric webbing seat and back that follows the line of the body. The dark-stained frames and warm brown webbing give the pair a calm, graphic presence. They suit a living room, reading corner or bedroom, used together or on either side of a side table.
Condition and Character
**Original condition with signs of use. Both chairs are stable.**
The chairs are offered in their original condition. The frames show scratches and worn finish, mainly on the armrests and the lower bentwood loops, where lighter wood shows through in places. The webbing shows fading and uneven colour from age and use. Please review the detailed photos closely to inspect the exact cosmetic condition before purchasing.
