This pair of dining chairs is a distinguished example of Eastern European mid-century modernism, designed by Radomír Hofman and manufactured by TON (Továrny na Ohýbaný Nábytek) in the 1950s. TON, the successor to the Thonet empire in Czechoslovakia, continued the tradition of high-quality bentwood furniture, and these chairs showcase that expertise through their elegant, tapered lines and ergonomic form.

The design features a striking bent plywood backrest, providing a lightweight yet incredibly durable seating solution that remains a favorite among vintage design enthusiasts.

Condition & Restoration
The chairs have undergone a complete professional refurbishment, bringing these historical pieces back to their original glory with modern comfort and durability.

Restoration: The wooden frames and plywood elements have been meticulously stripped, sanded, and refinished to highlight the beautiful natural grain and warm tones of the wood.

Comfort: The seats have been updated with fresh high-quality sponge and newly upholstered in a vibrant blue textured fabric, offering excellent support and a contemporary look.

Integrity: Every joint has been inspected and reinforced during the restoration process, ensuring these pieces are perfectly stable and comfortable for daily use.

Character Note: Please note a small scratch remains on the back of one chair, preserved as part of its vintage history—please see the detailed photos for a close-up.
