This pair of armchairs is a fine example of Hungarian Art Deco design from the 1950s, manufactured in the 1960s by the prestigious Debreceni Hajlított Bútorgyár (Debrecen Bentwood Furniture Factory). Known for their expertise in steam-bent wood. The chairs feature sculptural, sweeping bentwood arms that curve dramatically from the seat frame, paired with a tall, upright backrest and a burgundy velvet upholstery that gives the pair a bold, graphic presence. With their generous proportions and sturdy stance, they make a striking pair for a living room seating arrangement or as flanking accent chairs in an entryway or reading corner.

Condition and Character
Original condition with signs of use, scratches, and fading. The bentwood arms show scratches consistent with decades of handling, and the velvet upholstery has faded in places from age and light exposure. Both chairs remain structurally stable and comfortable for everyday use, and also present a solid foundation for a full reupholstery project should a fresh look be desired. Please review the detailed photos closely to inspect the exact location and extent of the scratches and fading before purchasing.
